Georgia
French Tutor & Oxbridge Mentor
Hello! My name is Georgia, I recently graduated from Magdalen College (Oxford) with a BA in French and Arabic ab initio (First-Class Honours).
My study of French and Arabic has varied from eighth-century Islamic texts to work of Montaigne, the role of Islam in modern politics to cross-cultural views of utopia in the nineteenth-century. I’ve also spent over a year studying, volunteering, and working in France and Jordan over the past four years. This experience has developed me into a flexible tutor with a deep enthusiasm for a wide range of topics.
I’m now pursuing an MPhil in Modern Middle Eastern Studies at St Antony’s College, Oxford, where I’m studying Turkish and focusing on the relationship between Islam and politics in the Middle East.
I have been a French tutor for over four years and have helped a wide range of pupils achieve their academic goals, from 13+ entrance exams to A-Level students and Oxbridge applicants.
I can support you with:
- KS1-KS3
- GCSE French
- A-Level French
- Oxbridge admissions
- Conversational French
My lessons are personalised to each pupil, allowing them to guide our study and focus. I’ve found that my pupils benefit most from a focus on grammar, returning to the essential ‘building blocks’ of the French language and increasing the complexity of topics. All grammar topics are constantly reinforced through exercises and translation practice. I’ve developed my own resources to help aid and explain all concepts that we cover.
I’m particularly interested in helping Oxbridge applicants discover French literature for the first time, using my focus on early modern and modern French literature throughout my degree to support and inspire applicants. I’d also be particularly interested in helping anyone applying for studying an ab initio language alongside French.
Georgia's Testimonials
“Georgia is such an amazing tutor. Her lessons are always so enjoyable and informative. She is always smiling and happy which makes learning easier. She has really helped me to improve in skills such as translations and reading comprehension where we do exercises together to practise. I’ve gone from getting an average of 5/10 to 10/10 in translations thanks to Georgia’s help! Her notes and resources (such as PowerPoints) are also very helpful as they state what we have covered in the lesson and all the grammar rules to remember. At the start of each session, Georgia recaps what we did in the prior lesson which helps me to further enforce my knowledge and understanding of the topic. Her passion for French is really shown through her teaching which is very motivating and inspiring for me. I always look forward to having lessons with Georgia, she’s very kind and a fantastic tutor! I would highly recommend.”
“Amazing tutor – nothing but positive/encouraging towards Amy and so knowledgeable. Georgia has already helped Amy’s confidence ten-fold.”
“Georgia is absolutely amazing! I started tutoring with her in Year 12, and she supported me throughout the entire Oxbridge application process. She is patient, explains things with clarity (especially complex grammar), and always comes up with engaging ways to teach. Most importantly, her in-depth knowledge of the admissions process was invaluable in helping me prepare for the MLAT exam and my interviews. She really is an expert! It has been a pleasure being her student.”

Theo
French Tutor & Oxbridge Mentor
Hello! My name is Theo, I recently graduated with a First from Oxford (St Peter’s College) in French and German (BA).
I love teaching languages, and I am passionate about helping students to attain their academic goals. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
Though I grew up in London, my mother tongue is French and I hold a certificate of proficiency in German at the highest level, C2, denoting near-native to native ability.
At Oxford, I read early modern French literature (1600 to 1750) and modern German literature (1750 to the present day), and was awarded two college prizes and a Scholarship in recognition of the high quality of my work. I was also recently awarded a scholarship to complete a Master’s degree in German literature at Magdalen College, Oxford.
Over the last six years, I have helped all kinds of students, including some entering less common examinations such as IGCSE and Pre U, some applying to Oxbridge, and some who simply wanted to become more fluent in French or German.
I can support you with:
- GCSE French
- A-Level French
- Oxbridge admissions
- Conversational French
I cover every level of French and German, from the earliest stages of internalising basic grammar to fine-tuning style and idiom in argumentative writing. I also offer tutoring in literary translation, writing about literature, and close reading, as well as conversation classes at any level.
I’m particularly interested in helping Oxbridge applicants discover French literature for the first time, using my focus on early modern and modern French literature throughout my degree to support and inspire applicants. I’d also be particularly interested in helping anyone applying for studying an ab initio language alongside French.
Theo's Testimonials
“From starting tutoring with Theo a quarter in of the school year to the end, my exam mark improved by 22% and took me to an A grade (the highest in my education system). Theo has helped me fill the gaps in my French knowledge around grammar and literature, and gives practical, honest feedback. The work he sets is simultaneously challenging and exciting which stretches me and furthers my love for the language. My confidence in speaking French has improved dramatically and I’ve gone from feeling lost when hearing French dialogue to realising I can understand what they are saying. I deeply value the tutoring I have received as it has encouraged me to pursue my French studies at a higher level.”
